Victoriastan: the village idiot strikes again!

Victoriastan: the village idiot strikes again!

Does Premier Daniel Andrews truly believe anything that comes from his foolish mouth? Windmills, lots of windmills caught the ears of the energy hucksters better than a squealing rabbit to the ears of a hungry fox as they smell filthy lucre GUARANTEED from the pockets of consumers.

Under the scheme, the Government enters into a “support agreement” that sets a minimum price for energy guaranteeing revenue if the market slips below a certain price. And, The quickest and the cheapest form of new energy supply that you can produce in this country right now is renewable energy.

Six new solar, wind farms to be built in Victoria to help meet renewable energy target

New solar and wind farms will be built in Victoria, generating enough energy to power 640,000 homes as part of the Andrews Government renewable energy target.

Premier Daniel Andrews will formally announce the results of the special “reverse auction” on Tuesday, a system where the Government has asked the industry for bids to build new energy generation.

Under the scheme, the Government enters into a “support agreement” that sets a minimum price for energy guaranteeing revenue if the market slips below a certain price.

Victorians to get half-price solar panels

The Victorian Renewable Energy Target (VRET) is designed to lift energy generation from renewables to 25 per cent by 2020, and to 40 per cent by 2025.

Environment Minister Lily D’Ambrosio said wholesale prices will drop with more power generation.

“The quickest and the cheapest form of new energy supply that you can produce in this country right now is renewable energy, and our government is absolutely committed to delivering this to Victorians,” she said.

“That will mean that households in Victoria, families and businesses will start to see the benefits of reduced power prices come through.”

She confirmed six wind and solar farms will be built across regional Victoria. These include:

•Berrybank wind farm, near Geelong

•Cawarp solar farm, near Mildura

•Cohuna solar farm, near Echuca

•Dundonnell wind farm, near Warrnambool

•Mortlark South wind farm, near Mortlake

•Winton solar farm, near Shepparton

Ms D’Ambrosio said the projects will generate a combined total of 928 megawatts of energy, exceeding the 650 megawatt target for the VRET.

“These renewable energy projects create jobs, they drive growth, they protect our environment, and also importantly they help to drive down power prices for Victorian families and businesses,” she said.

The announcement follows big promises on solar energy announced by the Andrews Government in recent weeks.

Premier Andrews announced a $1.3 billion package for discounted rooftop solar and solar hot water systems.

There must be two village idiots, we have one in Queensland. Follow the MONEY .. https://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/blogs/tim-blair/stalling-is-winning/news-story/3b354725032d8a343730241c39b6a10b

Politicians always refer to “nameplate” capacity which is the engineering design theoretical maximum in perfect operating conditions when the wind is blowing only for wind turbines and when the sun is brightly shining on a clear cool day, best output 10 am to 2 pm.

Wind turbines average real output over given periods of time is 30-40% of nameplate.

Also, the cheapest form of new energy supply would not take into account disposal and replacement cost factors. Wind turbines might last 20-years but could be less, solar panels might too or maybe a few years longer to achieve best performance when maintained.

Nothing can match power station generators for reliability, 24/7 delivery and cost spread over 50-years minimum and well maintained indefinite working life, certainly 80-years before technology demands upgrading.

Power stations can be designed and built to utilise various fuels such as c oal, gas, biomass (wood chips), nuclear and soon thorium molten salt reactors and nuclear fission that are being trialed overseas. And where water is available hydro power stations.

Unreliable wind turbines and solar systems are at best supplementary sources and not suitable for the world’s largest interconnected electricity grid. Without the world’s highest pricing for electricity subsidies the private sector would not invest in them. The madness is another of the man-made global warming hoax, “emissions” being carbon dioxide reduction nonsense. The UN IPCC gravy train money supply.

As ‘angry’ would sensibly shout ” KILL OFF THE EFFING SUBSIDIES” and give
the energy sector a level playing field … and “CUT OUR EFFING POWER BILLS” too.

True enough, DT. Earlier articles on Joanne Nova (say 2 or 3 years ago) indicated that wind capacity factor was probably even less than you mentioned – around the 25-30%, at best.

Ruination on stilts driven by greed on steroids; wind and solar energy generation has nothing to do with it!

down went the PM Turnbull all to do with Paris climate change and the NEG, from the wings enters Dan the Man with solar and wind. no nose no ears. what a daffy duck he is

  • Penguinite 11/09/2018, 8:33 am

The pollies are so dumb that they have lost sight of the fact, over the past 10 years that we have “lost” five PM’s to climate change. I reluctantly, because he was attempting to correct matters, include Abbott and Malcontent twice but they still didn’t get the message. At least Scomo seems to be attempting to alter course. Trouble is though he has to battle through a QANGO quagmire, gender confusion and Unions that have heavily committed members superannuation to renewable energy simply because of SUBSIDIES! The money-go-round between government and Unions is never more evident than in Victoriastan and SA! Kill the subsidies and curtail the Unions.

Pen: If ScoMo had a decent set, he will turn this crap around within the fortnight.

        don’t hold your breath

  • Phil 11/09/2018, 10:57 am

The quickest and cheapest form of new energy supply eh? That will be of cold comfort during peak demand on an airless night.

You missed a solar farm being pushed in North Northcote aka Mount Alexander Shire Council. We have Newstead getting lots of filthy taxpayer lucre for pretending to be electricity self sufficient. And now a huge solar farm for Baringhup. This can all be laid at the door of the green innercity treechangers now infesting the district.
