 The French Sub blunder sinks!

14.02.20.  Sky News host Peta Credlin says while Canberra spent much of Thursday focused on “internal insubordination inside Labor, a more important national issue came to light”. Ms Credlin said the next generation Australian submarine and “the largest defence project in our nation’s history by far, is in serious trouble”. “If we take the ‘exit ramp’, we could end up with no submarines at all, especially if the next Labor government decides it’s all too hard and too expensive,” she said. “Or we could end up with small off-the-shelf European submarines that can’t effectively operate in the South China Sea… Or we could consider the nuclear-powered submarine. “I’d like to see much more debate about this… But I won’t be holding my breath because much of Canberra just seems obsessed with itself, and not our nation’s future security.”Source: Sky News

For too many of our elected representatives, Federal, State and Councils, are in their own bubbles that are interconnected, communications not the best between bubbles.

But they do take notice of foreigners, unelected politicians at the United Nations and European Union, examples Paris Agreement/Agenda 30 and European Standards/Emissions Trading Scheme. All part of the evolving new world order.

President Trump has put them in their place but here the foreigner’s servants dance to the tunes.

Another stuff-up orchestrated by Malcolm Turdball! Subs, NBN and Snowy 2.0. That’s some record of Mal Achievement! Every time he opens his mouth we are reminded of the way he bought his way into Parliament by knifing a real King. Tony Abbott’s execution and of course “Ute-gate”! The man has been an unmitigated disaster for Australia! Unprecedented?

I have read that there are various investments in Australia by citizens of France, renewable energy for example.

I can’t figure why we have a political bubble with so many pricks inside it.

In shocked tones, Peta Credlin says that Australian content in the build will be as little as 50%. I have a friend, a diplomat, now retired, who spent most of his professional career dealing with the French at a governmental level. When this submarine ‘deal’ was first announced, he said to me that all Australia would see of the submarine construction was a minimal amount of the final assembly work and that, despite what they may promise initially, ALL the major work would be done in France.

Everything we have seen to date would suggest that he was right on the money.

The Japanese submarine, while excellent, is designed for littoral work, (i.e., close to its home port), and despite being good once on station, would be dead meat and sunk long before it reached its operational area if it had to transit from Perth, Sydney or even Darwin. Australia should pay the enormous renege penalty the French insisted we sign up for and get the hell out of this suicidal (both for the crews and the country) contract and either buy or lease new build Virginia Class nukes from the US, or, at the very least, (a far less desirable option, but infinitely better than what we’re currently signed up for), re-draw the contract with the French and buy off the shelf Barracudas with their original fitment of propulsion.

It’s a total disaster, always was from the beginning thanks to Turnbull and Pyne.

There’s no way in the world would I sail in any of these submarines.

Let us thank our lucky stars, the subs are not being built by NBN Co.

Under the current design there is NO way at all that anyone with any sense at all would or could serve and have even the slightest hope of survival!!

The comment by Fedup above is so spot on. Why do we have so many dills that make decisions. Maybe the voters need a good wake up instead of following blindly. Not maybe, but they definitely do.

Why are we even bothering when we refuse to use our uranium?

  • JS 14/02/2020, 5:39 pm

Doesn’t Russia and Iran make subs. Iran has nuclear and diesel-electric subs.
USA off the shelf nuclear – proven. Waste of money these French diesel jobs, noise will see them sunk in no time. Australia the obstacles wherever you look, no-think politician nation. Time for nuclear.
