Richard Branson: the richer the sillier?

Richard Branson: in competition with Elon Musk?

No more lectures please Sir Richard!

Billionaire Sir Richard Branson has likened climate change to World War III and criticised the Australian Government for failing to do more to curb rising greenhouse gas emissions.

According to New Atlas it was in 2011 that Virgin Atlantic Airways was planning to use an eco-friendly aviation fuel made from captured steel mill waste gases. A successful test flight followed in 2016, and the fuel has now been utilised in a commercial flight for the first time. Manufactured by project partner LanzaTech, the fuel is made by gathering carbon-rich waste gases from steel mills, then using bacteria to ferment the carbon into ethanol. A form of alcohol-to-jet synthetic paraffinic kerosene (ATJ-SPK), the end product was internationally approved as aviation turbine fuel in April. It can be used at up to a 50-percent blend with petroleum-based jet fuel. The kerosene saw its first commercial use Oct. 3rd in a 5-percent blend to power a Virgin Atlantic Boeing 747 that flew from Orlando, Florida to London.

It seems Sir Richard has overlooked exactly what fuel the steel mills in question use in that part of his aviation fuel making project. It must be so difficult being so rich?

Richard Branson criticises Australia over climate change, says coal ‘should be a thing of the past’

The Virgin founder said he is testing new recycled aviation fuel to be used in his planes but that governments needed to do more too.

“It’s going to need the world to take this problem very very seriously,” he told 7.30.

“Let’s pretend this is World War III.

“My feeling is that we need to convene governments and the business sector … on a global basis.

“I think (the Australian Government) needs to do a lot more and coal is definitely, I’m afraid, something that should be a thing of the past.”

Sir Richard is currently training to be an astronaut in the hope of travelling to space through his Virgin Galactic enterprise.

But he rejects the idea that means he’s given up on Earth.

“I think Earth is all we have really got,” he said.

“I think this idea that we are going to go and colonise Mars or the Moon and therefore we don’t really need Earth anymore is rubbish.

“Earth is astoundingly beautiful, it needs to be protected.”

Virgin Galactic is now competing with Elon Musk’s SpaceX project but Sir Richard said he didn’t see the Tesla boss as competition.

“Fortunately, the amount of people who would like to go to space far exceeds the amount of spaceships we are going to be able to build, so I think we can live alongside each other,” he said.

“We are all offering different experiences, obviously we happen to think our experiences are going to be the best.”

‘The war on drugs is an abject failure’

Sir Richard is also planning to use his visit to Australia to lobby politicians to regulate drugs.

“The war on drugs has been an abject failure, it’s been a failure for 65 years,” he said.

“As a businessman, if I had such a big failure, I would have closed it down 64 years ago.

“Countries that treat drugs as a health problem, not a criminal problem, reduce the drug problem dramatically.

“And we would urge the Australian Government to stop locking people up for taking drugs and instead help those people and seriously consider regulating drugs.”

Opponents of decriminalisation argue that it encourages drug use and therefore puts more people at risk.

But Sir Richard said his policy ideas aren’t about promoting drug use.

“What we’re not doing is saying that alcohol is good news, cigarettes are good news, drugs are good news, but what we’re saying is regulate, tax and tell people the dangers,” he said.

I wonder if Branson and the Greenies, in their disdain for carbon dioxide, realise that there are approximately 14000 jet aircraft in the air 24 hours every day of the year.

On average a jet engine produces 24 kilos of CO2 every 1.6 kilometres. A jet engine also produces water vapour, hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxide, sulphur oxides and lead.

Mr Branson if you want to save the planet, stay out of the air.

Why is it that these fillingaires make so much noise about the cleverness of their employees, yet all the fillingaires make do to agree with each other to be so stupid, fawning of money and power and stupidity of the worst kind, along with the unquenchable desire to enslave the human race to their alien desires.

Fillingaires – millionaires that race to making stupid remarks out of thin air.

Ironically if the 14000 jet aircraft that are in the air at any given time and all used BIO-fuel, the farming of vegetable oil producing crops and ethanol producing crops would have to quadruple.

Quadrupling BIO-fuel crops would entail the massive clearing of carbon dioxide absorbing oxygen producing forests, powered by fossil fuelled bulldozers.

Bringing common sense and logic into this Murph just messes with the piousness of these dipsticks.

I wonder how much of his wealth is invested in unrealiables and/or other man-made global warming from carbon dioxide hoax based investment opportunities.

Does he consult John Hewson and Mr Mansion?

A series of mass extinctions of life on earth can almost certainly be put down to vulcanism igniting mass build-ups of coal, gas, oil etc and a bit of human hazard reduction burning might just be medicine old Gaia needs. Greenies, IMHO, are out to destroy the planet.

I’ll bet the cost of distilling or whatever the production is called uses coal/gas electricity too. And lots of it! Ask him what his trains use! The man is a Yobbo!

makes one wonder that a millionaire could be so stupid , he has all those planes in the air making him further fortunes, but we cannot have power for energy from coal or gas. There sure are wankers out there and Sir (how he got that) Richard Branston is but one of them.

It was Mark Latham on Sky last night who said something on the lines of the left and greens have becoming so wealthy they cannot see the wood for the trees, Branson and his ilk prove it.
As I have often said to those greenies and lefties I meet “How did you get here? They reply, By car, plane, train or whatever” and I then say “I REST MY CASE” and most look at me totally perplexed shaking their heads as they walk away.!!

Eliza, that is because they are too stupid to understand what you are talking about.
One has to wonder if those such as Branson are too silly to understand the evidence that proves that man made global warming/climate change is a giant UN concocted fraud or are they just being devious in order to feed their gigantic lust for wealth and power.

      • Eliza 11/10/2018, 11:35 am

Yes Albert they may be too stupid to understand, but they are so entrenched in their beliefs that renewables make the world go round that they will not see that without filthy coal and oil there will be no modern technology like their mobile phones, planes, cars , houses clothes etc. And because of this entrenchment we will never hear a rational argument from them.

These ‘personalities’ have to look and feel good about themselves to maintain their place in the missionary brick wall of absolute hypocrisy and deliberate misinformation. Frauds one and all now defending a failed and corrupted cause to a more awake world.

Thank you Mr Branson for the output of your massive entrepreneurial brain. Please turn your attention now to solving the Middle East problems which no doubt will only use up a day or so of your time.
Meanwhile we’ll keep your thoughts and feedback safely in file 13.

Clearly all these capitalist billionaires have their snouts in the CC industry and the greenies are being sucked even deeper into debt. Dumb bastards.

  • Bob Ford 11/10/2018, 6:39 pm

    Branston wasn’t always a Dickhead !

  • Clarion Call 11/10/2018, 9:29 pm

BF: Branson was always a little off the wall. Odd body language and facial expressions overlaced with a terribly British persona and an almost glib vernacular, characterised this interesting, heart’s-in-the-right-place entrepreneur. Pity he got mixed up with the climate change ‘entrepreneurs’. I thought he was smarter than that.
