Not the Platters. The Righteous Brothers sang it.
The Platters did do that song as did your Righteous Brothers
How fantastic to hear that song again. It takes me right back to an era where the world from today’s vantage point seemed much simpler, less manipulated and this country seeing a bright future. Have to play it several times, he’s so good this singer.
Wow, wow, wow. So good to hear this beautiful song. Just loved the Platters.
This YouTube video has a story timeline from 1955 when the song was written:
The Elvis version was recorded just 2 months before his death.
The old guy from the Platters did an excellent job for his age. The original Platters version was pretty good but I’m with the majority who declared the Righteous Bros version the best.
Platters had lots and lots of other excellent ones; I agree, Righteous Brothers were the best.
At the end I saw a judge point to his eye and seem to say that the singer had brought a tear to his eye.
It did that for me.
This brought tears when all the light went on, He still has it 🙂
