More of what Jack Russell Jesse does with his time!

09.11.19. So many enjoyed the cleverness of Jesse the Jack Russell. Some thought the dog was over-trained and should have been doing more ‘doggie’ things. Any Jack owner will assure you that a Jack’s mission in life is to first get inside the owner’s head and then to please its owner. While out driving with my Jack, Jack was driving, designated driver you know, we attended a barbecue. Jack was standing on his head near the beer keg and someone asked what brand he was. I put my schooner down and slurred,”he’s a Rox Jussell.” Jack assumed his horizontal position and said, “don’t believe the old bastard, he’s drunk. When he bought me he thought I was a cat!”

I had a little Jack Russell named Jarrah who has been gone for 4 years now and I still miss my clever little girl terribly. She owned my car, my house, and me. I had her from the age of 6 weeks and she was nearly 14 when she died. I now have a Pomeranian rescue dog that I got just over 3 years ago, Ruby, who is a very nice little girl and also keeps me on my toes. Small dogs are the most delightful little things and great company, especially when they think they own you!!

My Jack named “Mate” went five years ago this month, just short of 14. He was “the” perfect dog. Even people that didn’t like dogs much said he was welcome any time. I miss him dearly and now shed a tear as I won’t miss “The super Vet” on SBS.

Jessie is still a happy little dog and even more so because he gets to show all how clever he is. But, he forgot to close the mail box. Just a small thing but it means he is pretty normal like most well loved dogs.

The old Dad said to me about 55 years ago when we had a kid who used to get out the side gate and go walkabout, “that bloody kid needs a dawg, a Jack Russell.” I get the kid a dog and he teaches the dog to shoot through too, the kid one way, the bloody dog another. I always looked for the dog first and explained it to the old Sheila next door as in ,”missus I can always make another kid but I will never get a dog as good as that one again.”
