hydroxychloroquine trial to begin in Melbourne

21.05.20.  So quick they were to discredit Donald Trump when only days ago he announced that he was taking hydroxychloroquine to ward of VOVID-19. Of course, most if not all ridicule came swiftly from his haters and their compliant press. However, the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research (WEHI) in Melbourne, which gets funding from the Australian government is about to begin trials on front line health workers.
Thousands of frontline doctors and nurses in Australia will take part in a widespread clinical trial of hydroxychloroquine, a controversial drug that has been claimed to defend against COVID-19. Announced on Wednesday and codenamed, the study COVID SHIELD will be led by Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research (WEHI) in Melbourne, and funded by the Australian government.

Australian researchers launch hydroxychloroquine trial in high-risk health workers

Co-leader of the study, Professor Ian Wicks from the Royal Melbourne Hospital told Xinhua that hydroxychloroquine had been trialed before as a treatment for COVID-19, but the study was the first to test the drug as a preventive measure against the virus.
“As far as we are aware, it is the first double-blind, placebo-controlled trial to test for prevention,” he told Xinhua. “We are hopeful this Australian trial will provide a definitive answer to this question.”
During the four-month trial period, half of the 2,250 participants will be given hydroxychloroquine, while the other half will receive a placebo tablet.
Fellow co-leader of the study, Professor Marc Pellegrini from WEHI, described the multi-center, randomized, double-blind study, as “gold standard” in design.
“The trial is focused on our frontline and allied healthcare workers who are at an increased risk of infection due to repeated exposure caring for sick patients. Our aim is to help people stay safe, well and able to continue in their vital roles,” Pellegrini said.
Earlier this week, the United States PresidentDonald Trump revealed that he had been taking hydroxychloroquine himself for a number of weeks, despite inconclusive evidence to its effects and concerns for potential public misuse.
However, the drug has been widely prescribed by doctors in the past 50 years to treat diseases like malaria, lupus and rheumatoid arthritis, meaning that potential side effects are largely known and manageable within a clinical setting.
“Rheumatologists are very comfortable with the drug’s safety profile. Like any medication, hydroxychloroquine has certain side effects, but fortunately, these are well known and quite uncommon,” Wicks said.
“The medical specialists conducting COVID SHIELD are highly experienced in using hydroxychloroquine in the clinic. All participants will be screened based on rigorous selection criteria and closely monitored throughout the trial to ensure safety.”

There is a far better chance of this being the solution to the Chinese Wuhan Virus than a vaccine which is unlikely to ever be successfully developed because the virus mutates so frequently, not unlike the influenza virus of which the vaccine was deemed last year by the WHO as being 43% effective after the outcry in Australia of failure due to well over 300,000 infections and over 1000 deaths, all of whom were vaccinated against seasonal influenza.

I have no doubt this year’s seasonal influenza will have considerably less impact due to the lock-downs, thus breaking the chain of transmission for the virus.

Just saw an article on the net that stated that in the US, 88% of the recent wuhan virus infections come from people staying at home. Lack of fresh air, sunshine, and lack of socialization weaken the body immensely and set the body up for infections. I am convinced that the “health experts” know this, and the states like this so that they can create more victims, and thus hold onto their ill gotten powers. And since the state has been lying about this all along, who can believe anything the state says now? Even just this morning the CDC are now saying the bug can’t survive on surfaces.

“hydroxychloroquine trial to begin in Melbourne…”

Surely not!!! This cannot be true!!!

Anyone watching even just a little of MSM. ‘their ABC’ etc. will know that ‘medical experts’ warn against the use of this drug…The orange mans’ claim that he was hopeful that hydroxychloroquine would be helpful in the fight against the virus was loudly laughed at and condemned as being ‘illinformed nonsense’!

I wonder if the same MSM and ABC etc. will publish their apologies???
    Nah…no way.
I don’t expect anything from the lying a-oles.
Just like I don’t expect ‘their ABC’ has the humility or integrity to broadcast a 4corners special on how they got ‘russiagate’ so wrong.
MSM is so untruthful these days that I don’t bother tuning in or picking up a newspaper. Why bother? I would be better off by talking to my dog…at least she is sensible enough to not talk about stuff she knows nothing about!

I prefer a conversation with my schnauzer. He has never given me fake news or specious, illogical arguments. He’s never given me any stupid predictions and he obviously doesn’t believe in promoting wildly inaccurate modelling.

Seriously they are NOT listening to the Demorats in the USA.
What a waste of funds, lol
Perhaps these medical experts could enter the Climate Change debate, sorry no debating, as “every” scientist ONLY on this matter agrees its happening.

If by some miracle, the anti-malarial drug proves to have a positive effect, much less a cure, I think the sound of crickets chirping very VERY loudly is all we’ll hear from Ultimo, Channel 9 and Channel 10.

It could well be that the so called doubters are sponsered by multinational chemical companies and the last thing they need is a CHEAP and efective remedy, instead of a vaccine of doubtfull effect and safety but plenty of profit.
