Anyone out there tech savvy enough to suggest an alternative – and user friendly – site to Facebook and perhaps more importantly, with the knowledge to say what would be involved in making the switch?

Perhaps most important of all, what would be involved for the non-tech savvy users of a group in logging on to the new site? My wife is a member of a couple of groups where many of the ladies would baulk at anything but a set of VERY simple and easy to follow instructions.

Cliff: I dumped Farcebook and went to MeWe a while ago, it is fairly straightforward to setup. Found here: https://mewe.com

Another is Gab, found here: https://gab.com/ it has some interesting news-feeds about Trump and such.

[Yeah this a repost because the MM blog was changed over about an hour after I posted this, and it’s too good to go down the memory hole]

Tony Thomas, a regular hard-hitting contributor at Quadrant online, has given us a totally must-read gem. I promise you will be gobsmacked. Totally classic.

The title is a bit of a misnomer, and Tony’s own commentary at the start of the piece seems like nothing you haven’t heard before. But the transcript of the encounter between journalist Avi Yemini (a Dan Andrews nemesis) and Daniels’ state security detail is just — as any teen girl would say — OMG!!!

Avi is standing his ground in the Vic parliament grounds, with an official press pass, as Andrews is about to give his latest Covid press conference. Daniels’s PSO — a kind of personal police force — tells Avi to buzz off. What ensues makes sense of the title of the piece. The PSO threaten to arrest Avi for contravening “good order and security”. Avi called his lawyer while the PSO have him surrounded, and the lawyer extracts from them that they were told by Daniels’s Personal Assistant that he doesn’t want Avi there (asking hard-nosed questions). That’s the bottom of why the PSO are threatening to arrest him. Get that? Do you get that? So the PSO and then the Police pile on Avi, eventually expelling him, after making up a series of bogus, pulled-from-ass, inaccurate claims — totally dismissing freedom of the press — hence the comparison to China. He may have got kicked out, but with full self-control and great comebacks he totally owns them as Dan Andrews security-state goons shutting down the press.

Skip the blurb at the start of the article if you must, but the transcript at the end (Avi recorded the whole transaction) is a total must-read. What a f..ing classic!

Thanks, Ian A. This matter clearly demonstrates just what a real danger to democracy Andrews and his mindless thugs are.

  • Bh 19/02/2021, 5:34 pm

I tried searching for Yemini on The Australian website, to see what they had to say about him. But every single time, “yemini” got auto changed to “Gemini”. Weird. It did stick when I used quote marks, but the one and only result for “Avi Yemini” was back in 2017. For a guy so relatively well known in Oz, that’s a bit odd.

Biden is a fool, more so because (just to reverse Trump’s achievements) he has rejoined the Paris Agreeent.

Like Rudd in his hatred of John Howard, and opening our borders to ‘the Boats’ ( and look at what trouble that caused!), the US will feel lots of pain as they commit economic and Energy Suicide again.

Look at Texas today with all of the snow and power outages. Are the Democrats and Biden really that stupid or vindictive?

I hope saner brains over there take the USA into Nuclear energy. It’s the only way out to keep costs down and the Greedy fingers of the UN Climate Creeps at bay.

  • Neville 19/02/2021, 10:24 pm

“Are the Democrats and Biden really that stupid or vindictive?”
Yes, Akto, there is a santa claus – oh, sorry, I meant yes, they really are that stupid – AND vindictive.

‘The Truth about Bill Gates’ by Paul Joseph Watson’s latest spray (fully justified)

All these ladies coming out of the wood work years after the alleged sexual issues should be treated respectfully and supported by government. But..
If this clown did all they say throw the book and clean up all aspects of government across the board. This is not party specific they likely all in the same boat. All powerful so we can do as we like.

    • PW 23/02/2021, 2:37 pm

Rape is beyond normal, but touching someone’s thigh should simply attract a slap across the face and I believe it wouldn’t happen again.
Sexual assault has become as relevant as the word racist. Has lost its meaning when it now includes ‘leering’ at someone!

      • Ian_A 23/02/2021, 7:50 pm

Touching … Heaven help us if we had Sleepy Joe over here, PW.

  • Aktosplatz 23/02/2021, 1:12 pm

Craig Kelly has quit the Liberal Party to sit on the crossbench. I have not included MSM links as they are all mocking and derogatory towards him ( as we would expect).

The Liberal Party has deserted is traditional base and has become Progressive & Green, well, that’s up to them. They were therefore trying to give Craig the push so he’s left that sinking ship anyway. I hope he stays in Parliament, although can’t see how yet. He ‘s a good bloke.

    • Ian_A 23/02/2021, 8:00 pm

Yeah, Ak, I feel sorry for him. But it’s an indication of where the “Overton window” has shifted to in Australian politics now — what can be said and what’s beyond the pale now — and as a retail politician Scotty is just trying to stay within the window I think. Tide is rising for the woke. They are pushing the dialogue where they want it, and they have control of all the major institutions in this country. It’s not shaping up as a good year for us on MM. But we just have to carry on learning our stuff and undermining their arguments.

Hope your online reading includes Quadrant and Quillette, two of my favourites for dissident thought. Also UnHerd, Spiked, Areo, all free to view, lots of content. Of course Breitbart, Federalist, Townhall, American Greatness, Chronicles magazine, ah, what else. But the two Qs are my favourites. After MM naturally 😉

      • Aktosplatz 24/02/2021, 9:54 am

Thanks Ian, yes Breitbart & Quadrant are my two favourites as well as MM.

As far as the MSM is concerned, usually I read headlines only, and then skip to the comments. I’ll certainly try Quillette, thanks.

Proof that the minorities Krudd, Turdbull and their ABC didn’t get the support to push through a RC into Rupert.
Irrelevant pieces of excreta, the 3 of them.
I can see Krudd wringing his womanly hands, tears flowing.
C’mon Rupert run a front page story why YOU are the face of democracy.

    • Sir Peter 23/02/2021, 5:52 pm

Kevin Rudd is a mini Biden. Totally corrupt.

  • Ian_A 23/02/2021, 8:14 pm

From Brendan O’Neill’s latest editorial in Spiked, commenting on Harry and Meghan’s woke narcissism vs the Queen’s stoic and self-abnegating devotion to national duty:

“They don’t know what service means. Here’s the difference: the Meghans of this world primarily serve themselves, always seeking new opportunities for self-expression, virtuous preening, ‘emotional growth’. The queen, in contrast, serves the crown. She has negated the self. She suppresses her self-expression, her political views and her emotions, to the end of submitting to something bigger than herself: the crown, the monarchy, the constitution. Now, we can discuss whether the crown is good or bad – I’m a republican, so I’m not a fan. But it is clear that Meghan and Elizabeth II have unbridgeably different understandings of ‘service’. Meghan’s idea of service always involves her expressing herself and revealing herself and reminding us how virtuous she is; the queen’s idea of service is to hide the self, to fold it into a larger, apparently more important project. The queen is about service, Meghan is about self-service.”

    • Aktosplatz 24/02/2021, 9:06 am

Like Brendan O’Neil I am not a monarchist either, but I have admired the Queen and her father, King George Vl, for their service.

Now, in contrast, these two spongers:-

Harry & Meghan do not seem to understand that ‘saying’ and ‘doing’ are connected. ‘Practice what you preach’ is a familiar saying. These two do not practice what they preach.

Another old saying is ‘One in the eye is worth two in the ear’. People will give a realistic response to what they see compared to what they hear.

So whenever these two grifters preach “compassion and love” as they often do, the public look at the ghosted Queen & the Duke of Edinburgh ( regarding Harry) and the ghosted Thomas Markle (regarding Meghan).

      The comparisons are clear.

The local federal member for this area where the new selection is situated, an LNP MP, made the fatal mistake of writing and welcoming us to the area and invited comments. On initial reflection in the dark watches one thought that the poor bastard didn’t deserve the comments in the reply but further reflection made one think that as old age takes hold one becomes more mellow and lenient.

    • Neville 24/02/2021, 10:42 am

      “mellow and lenient”
      LOL! Nice one, Bots!

  • JG 25/02/2021, 10:02 am

Anyone else notice this clown of a chook we have as a Premier in Qld. Queen of Australia Chook demanding from the PM ” Please Explain”.
Talk about tickets… I got 4 more years and you can all get stuffed approach. All failures are down to the federal government and good stories regardless of who funds it is all down to her. But don’t mention the island she
has handed to China on our door step.

  • Botswana+O'Hooligan 25/02/2021, 12:02 pm

Only two people died from influenza in Australia last year between late April and November, shouts the Australian newspaper and depicts the president of the AMA (Omar Korshid) above the article. God elp all of us for they treat us as mugs and we allow it.

  • Pensioner Pete 25/02/2021, 3:09 pm

I note Puzzleduck has chucked out the red herring yet again to divert attention from a number of serious issues plaguing Queensland like out of control youth crime, government debt reaching record highs over $110 Billion and growing, Keswick Island leased to the Chinese, and much, much more, yet here we go again, Queensland chasing the Olympics to ensure this once great state never sees the black ink back on the ledger ever again, is insanity.

Just what on earth is wrong with Queensland politicians, are they all stark staring raving mad? Pushing for the Olympics when the state debt is escalating and unlikely ever to be under control, ever again.

Queensland needs dams, power stations, upgraded railways, more bridges, schools, restoration of agricultural colleges, and so much more needed, yet these irresponsible fools keep pushing the Olympics for personal glory, because sure as shootin’, there are no benefits for Queenslanders from the Olympics.

    • Botswana+O'Hooligan 25/02/2021, 6:50 pm

They already have two gold medals and are striving for a third PP, one gold for driving us into a deficit of over 100 billion, then winning another gold from the mug Qld. electors for giving them re election, and if they get the Olympics and drive us further into deficit they will get a third. The palace duck will be long gone of course and enjoying a life of luxury courtesy of we taxpayers.

    • Aktosplatz 26/02/2021, 9:09 am

It’s quite noticeable that all of the comments I have seen in various MSM outlets have all said the same thing, ‘No! We can’t afford it’. I have seen no evidence of any agreement of this from the public.

We’ll get this lame, well worn mantra that it will bring lots of business into Queensland. They will never mention the massive expenditure needed across the board, and that previous Olympic countries have inherited massive debts. Extra debt in our case.

Also, most comments mentioned another thing and that is to leave the Olympics in Greece – permanently!

This sort of issue should be part of the next election for voting on. (Mind you I am not expecting anything of value from the LNP)

    • Dave 26/02/2021, 12:40 pm

      Couldn’t agree more PP

  • Cliff 26/02/2021, 6:10 am

On Peta Credlin’s programme last night – an announcement that the gummit has appointed two senior ex-naval officers in investigate the nuclear option for the submarine purchase.

I know there’s a huge hulk between that and some sensible decision being made on this issue, but it is at least a small step in the right direction.

Edited to add: I hadn’t seen the next article in this morning’s MM when I wrote the above.

  • Dave 26/02/2021, 11:52 am

I see the media and all the vested interests are wetting themselves that Queensland looks like hosting the 2032 Olympics, being shortlisted as all other contenders have pulled out. For very good reason. Supremo Australian Olympics parasite, John Coates advised it will not cost Queensland anything. FFS. He says the Olympic committee will stump up $2.5 Billion with $1 billion coming from ticket sales and another $1 billion coming from commercial interests to cover what he says will be a $4.5 billion cost. Another FFS. Rubbery figures all around. This is from the latest Japanese Olympic projections for this year..” In 2013, when Tokyo was given the games by the IOC, they country said it would cost around $7.5 billion. Audits by the Japanese government are now showing the costs at minimum $25 billion. ” Coates is obviously a pathological liar and historically every city that hosts an Olympics ends up in considerable debt stumped up by local taxpayers for year if not forever. If the wanker is so confident why can’t the Olympic committee underwrite all costs and legally guarantee no costs to the long suffering Queensland population? Not to mention disbanding the entire Olympic corruption gravy train. As an aside but relevant, we have world championships for all sports all the time so the Olympics are meaningless. The crap that gets peddled regarding number of medals won as justification for wasted billions is an insult to anyone without their noses in the Olympic money trough.. I welcome all thoughts on the matter.

    • Pensioner+Pete 26/02/2021, 1:13 pm

Dave: I couldn’t agree more with your comments as they are spot on about this debacle called the ‘Olympics’, grossly overrated, grossly over funded and a gross insult to long-suffering taxpayers.

    • Cliff 26/02/2021, 9:44 pm

Good to see that I am not the only one to ask myself why it is that nobody else wants to host the 2132 Olympics.

Surely to God there’s someone in the Queensland government who has taken a moment to wonder how it is that only Queensland is putting up its proverbial hand to do so.

When is someone going to face the sad fact that someone will eventually have to repay the massive debt these clowns are incurring?

I quite enjoy the ABC’s Conversation Hour at 11.00 each morning. It’s a given that it will lean left – it’s the ABC after all – but yesterday, in an interview with Australian journalist (missed the first name) Swann, Richard Vidler crossed my line for utter leftist crap in a Trump bash that defied all logic.

Anyone suffering from low blood pressure out there? Listen to ten minutes of the utter rubbish both Vidler his guest Swann rabbited on with and you’ll be cured.

  • Aktosplatz 27/02/2021, 2:45 pm

Trump is on his way back, as ‘Kingmaker’ this time.

I am pleased he has turned his back on the RINOs who betrayed him.

  • Graham+Richards 28/02/2021, 10:22 am

Anyone remember my comment some weeks back about the LNP in the state of Qld, which in reality is only there in someone’s imagination.

    22/02/2021, 8:54 am
The problems in the states are the useless Coalition parties. Sorry to all but let’s face it Qld, Vic, do not have opposition parties. They have mute parties, maybe they just have parties, paid for by the electorate of course, which is far more attractive than doing any work. In Qld there is a suspicion that there is actually an opposition. They appear anonymously just before an election, then immediately after the election after an hour or so of muttering & getting shot of the party leader of their choice, go back to exactly what they were doing before the election. Just like Krudd, is there no end to these pricks. The states in Oz have become one party states with the blessing of the State Coalition parties.

It would appear that the messages of warnings & futility are getting thru to some. Suddenly there is an awakening. But, who is there waiting in the wings to seize the moment and lead the LNP back into power!!
Anyone with a bit of vision for the future will certainly be dead in the water! Remember Campbell Newman? One thing is for sure if ever there was a reason to burn something to ground & start afresh it’s NOW!
I’m afraid that unless they are politically correct, “woke”, wearing a face mask, transgender, or a bloody goof – off they have no chance.
Trouble is the political fields are full of those.
