CDF Campbell: we must question their judgement

We must surely question their judgement

by Jack Cade

There is no doubt in the minds of many that leadership in the ADF has been replaced with social engineering lunacy as one supposed leader after another abandoned common sense in favour of PC nonsense. The latest to dazzle us with his questionable judgement is the newly appointed chief of the ADF General Angus Campbell.

General David Hurley got the ball rolling when as chief of the ADF he sacked Major Bernard Gaynor, a veteran of three deployments to Iraq, because he was openly opposed to the political correct erosion of our military standards that resulted in uniformed participation in the Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras and the associated attacks on the Christian religion. After installing this craziness into the ADF, Hurley toddled off to become the Governor of NSW.

Then along came General David Morrison. You remember him, he was the one who became Australian of the Year and ponced around on women’s high heels while calling for equality for women in the ADF. As a result of such nonsense our ADF now boasts downgraded fitness requirements for women in the front line and the recruitment of women in place of those terrible blokey white Anglo/Australian males.

Also on the PC bandwagon was Vice Admiral Ray Griggs. His claim to fame was to not only have an affair with a sailor’s wife but to have her promoted to the rank of Commander. Equality in the boudoir perhaps?  Unlike ol’ Barnaby, who eventually stepped down, Griggs doesn’t even show that much class as he hides behind the protection of an investigating panel that refuses to release the details of his illicit affair because they are private matters. Official defence secrets, no doubt?

Griggs is another of our fine military leaders who has never heard a shot fired in anger but wears an unbelievable shirt full of hardware. Of the fifteen medals he wears only one is for active service while six are foreign awards handed out by Indonesia, United States, France, Singapore, Philippines and Spain. In addition and not surprisingly, he is a supporter of the LGBTI brigade.

That brings us to the latest display of exceedingly bad judgement on the part of an ADF so-called leader. General Angus Campbell is about to become the top dog of the ADF despite a list of questionable decisions that would see the records of a subordinate officer marked not fit for promotion.

First cab off the rank is the appointment of an Army Reserve officer, Brigadier Kathryn Campbell.  Brigadier Campbell took three months leave from the public service to become deputy commander of Joint Task Force 633 Middle East and Afghanistan.  Many would question the wisdom of appointing a reserve officer with no battle experience to a command position in a war zone.

As Chief of the Army General Angus Campbell ordered an inquiry into the SAS based upon rumour, hearsay and conversations. The Inspector-General posted an advertisement calling for people to come forward if they had heard rumours or heard others talking about the actions of soldiers on the front line in Afghanistan. Victoria Cross recipient Ben Roberts-Smith ripped into the Inspector-General and Angus Campbell when he said, “When have you heard of a judicial process initiated off the back of rumour? It’s a joke. We should be looking after our soldiers not persecuting them.” At the time of a parliamentary committee hearing on the 25 October 2017 this witch hunt had been running for 17 months based upon unsubstantiated gossip.

Now we witness Angus Campbell’s latest brain-snap when he decided that it was terribly wrong for our service personnel to be wearing “symbology” portraying death, seemingly ignoring the fact that a soldier’s job is to engage and kill the enemy. Campbell says, “This is not where we need to be as a national institution.  As soldiers our purpose is to serve the state, employing violence with humility always and compassion wherever possible. The symbology to which I refer erodes this ethos of service.” The Sydney Daily Telegraph got it right when it said, “There’s your new army slogan: “Employing Violence with Humility”. The slogan will probably sound less stupid in Latin. Although, we ask if the war against domestic violence can be waived if committed with humility?

Hypocrisy not considered, General Campbell proudly wears the Infantry Combat Badge that displays a bayonet. The bayonet has one purpose and that is to kill and maim in a cruel manner. Surely that should be purged from the service also?

Angus Campbell is a general that seems to favour focusing on gender issues rather than concentrating on our reduced military capabilities within our own region. Last year Campbell addressed a Defence Force conference on recruitment at which time he said, “The number one priority I have with respect to recruitment is increasing our diversity, with a focus on women and indigenous Australians.” In summing this up Cori Bernardi also took into account the issuing of Halal rations to our troops when he said, “(This) demonstrates just how our military has been captured by minority interests and appears to have suspended the application of common sense.”

The new Australian Deference Service conga line of politically correct misfits.

  • Penguinite 23/04/2018, 7:30 am

Trust you’re referring to the Brass and not the soldiers?

Must be difficult to be an ADF trooper today, having to listen to, obey the orders and read the rubbish these “leaders” spew out.

I’m sick of hearing this Respect and thank the traditional owners of the land bullshit!! How about them thanking us for the Dole, shelter, smokes, grog and troopcarrier?

Well said Chris. It has gone on way beyond it’s use by date and I was watching a young (compared to me) Aboriginal Lass talking about not changing the Day (Australia Day) or the flag and it was a breath of fresh air to listen to her. As far as all these bowls of junket at the top of the pile goes, first sniff of politics and away they go, ripping decisions straight out of their arses without a clue as to the consequences. Duty First

The defence force has PC and sad for them, we the population has PC with Turnbull and Bishop so into the Global warming and the Paris agreement, their main focus is reducing emissions. No focus on keeping Australians financially healthy and fit, we are getting poorer by the day, and to overseas investors in wind and solar that get the rewards. so weep for the ADF but weep for Australia also

Totally agree, sad thing my local member Alan Tudge is a doer, but I am unable to votefor him as I do not want Turnbull who castrated Abbott and has failed more dismally than Tony, after 50 years of voting I am now going to do my first donkey vote, Turnbull should join the Labour Party he isas good as Shorten, we need a leader who stops all this political correct crap, it is now eroding the Military, Police Forces and other Public service.

John; you are entitled to your viewpoint – However; at the end of the day, the Choice is:- Do you want a Liberal Democracy or a Communist Socialist Labor Government, who will cripple this Country once again, if they get into power – think of the Country; not yourself. It is the Party you Vote for, not its Leader.

      • LES WEILEY 09/08/2018, 1:11 pm

John, Think about voting 1 for a candidate who has absolutely no hope, and then 2 for ALAN TUDGE, This gives Alan your vote when your first choice is eliminated , but deprives the PARTY of ELECTORAL FUNDING. This funding is what they need to ride roughshod over our wishes. THE PARTIES ARE DESTROYING OUR NATION.

    • Patrick 20/06/2018, 1:26 pm

The next thing we know will be to ban our forces from farting to reduce emission. Maybe if those Richard craniums in Canberra shut thei mouths the emission targets would be reache sooner.

When working in the corporate world I found that the best managers tackled the biggest problems head on but the ones who weren’t really up to the job would busy themselves with trivia. It gave them a sense of achievement while justifying their avoidance of the real issues.

    • John benns 09/05/2018, 9:42 pm

In my carrer after in the Corporate World, I found this to, and the real people got burnt and the the political smart (dotterers) survived and took down others and companies in the end.

  • Willy 23/04/2018, 10:59 am

Isn’t Angus Campbell the goose who approved the wearing of the rainbow pin on uniforms in support of the poofs Mardi Gras? Should we question his judgement? Too bloody right we should.

  • Clarion Call 23/04/2018, 11:03 am

The Australian Army has to be the laughing stock of defence services throughout the world. The marvellous traditions of brave fighting men in numerous global conflicts over many decades has now been trashed by a gaggle of government and service bureaucrats falling over themselves to accommodate these anti-heterosexual groups with their smutty diversity crud. No wonder the army mob can’t attract new recruits. I would be ashamed to join.

    • Owen Carlton 14/06/2018, 10:51 am

I am Ex Service and agree entirely and down the line somewhere, someday, this will come back and bite us in the rear end.

  • geoffrey 23/04/2018, 11:32 am

” Vic hoc cum humilitate”. Nah, still sounds like bullshit!

  • Angus MacKay 02/05/2018, 10:01 pm

TRUE diggers wouldn’t follow these Top Brass pansies that have infiltrated the ranks of a once proud fighting force to a bloody football match let alone into battle. Pansies that have put shit on a uniform that I and many hundreds of thousands of others once wore with pride..

  • Bruce Cameron 03/05/2018, 12:14 pm

A death mask with the caption “Respect is earned; loyalty returned” was placed on a veterans Facebook page last year. The message was clear: this is the mantra which should govern how we (ie. serving and retired) go about things.
I pointed out that the full quote is “Respect is earned; Honesty is appreciated; Trust is gained; Loyalty is returned.” And that with the values of honesty and trust removed, the saying has been adopted by a number of gangs whose hierarchy demands total respect and loyalty at all times. In these circumstances, respect is not earned by positive characteristics of honesty, integrity, leadership and ethical behaviour, it is achieved through force and brutality, resulting in fear and mindless compliance.
Those who endorse death masks and their mantra, should consider the message they are sending to others in terms of the values they stand for.

An absolutely disgusting decision which clearly has not been made with the basically clear Role of the Defence Force in mind … that role is to win wars (big or small), and in doing so, the killing of an enemy is unequivocal & paramount. To do so needs a very high level of morale by those doing the killing. Pussyfooting around this fact with Political Correctness (PC), trying to make killing something that it’s not, will in the longer term be to the detriment of our country. Leaders can demand, and indeed should expect loyalty from their subordinates ….. however, RESPECT is something to be EARNED! In this matter, the General, regardless of his record to date, has lost the respect of many – those serving & those who have! …. DUTY FIRST! ??

  • Tony Wass 04/05/2018, 7:29 am

Like so many others l am confused and bewildered by the decisions of our Defence Force Chiefs in recent times. Our soldiers can rightly feel let down by there decisions. Stop pandering to the loonie left and start leading.

  • max cameron 05/05/2018, 3:52 pm

It is quite obvious that generals are only Polititians in uniform these days and if you go back in time how many good men have we lost because of these useless bastards ,how many more will be lost, how many more mistakes does Australia have to suffer. The service’s are not suppose to discuss Religion or Political subjects why have they not been charged. with being over educated DICKHEADS.

    • John benns 09/05/2018, 9:51 pm

Yes lets remeber the unnessary slaughter by English Aristrcrat Generals in the first and second wars as well as now after going to reunions and seeing the dedication of our soldiers led by political Officers all from ADFA, who are only interested in themselves, and do not stand up for the soldiers in a tight budget scenario.

  • Barry Brewer 06/05/2018, 1:14 pm

I served this once great country of ours for most of my life. I have operational service in an asian country on the mid 60’s. I weep for our young soldiers and junior leaders in today’s ADF having to put up with this political correct bullshit. The ADF is about defending the country not an experimental platform gender orientation. Mayhap a mutiny is on the horizon.

  • Ferg 06/05/2018, 4:18 pm

It would appear these top brass are Grunters who have jumped the ladder to the top & do not really know what it is all about, our young Service personnel need direction not confusion, I say to these service leaders think about why you are in that position & think about the minds of the young people who are supposed to look up to you, I see trouble
    A-brewing.

  • Brent 10/05/2018, 6:49 pm

Bring back Peter after he has SERVED his time as GG. No-political and a real soldier who cared for his service people and defied the Govt of the time. A real leader

  • Daz 16/05/2018, 5:50 pm

The article is very true unfortunately and we have David Hurley to thank for allowing our ADF personnel to march in the Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras. I personally believe that this actually degrades the uniform. I totally agree with every comment Jack wrote and it is not only the Soldiers who are affected is members of the Navy and Air Force as well. I served my country for more than 40 years in uniform and I have seen Senior Officers selected for Honours and Awards that our troops should be recognised for. It appears when they are promoted to Brigadier equivalent it is a right to be awarded an AM etc. There are many troops and officers who have missed out on Honours and Awards because for doing more than their jobs but many of these Senior Officers are politicians in the making. I have worked for a number of them. PC gone very wrong. To appease Political Correctness within the ADF and to ensure there are more women in higher positions, there is positive discrimination when it comes to promotion. Females are looked at more favourably than their male peers. I see this happen every year when promotions are released.

  • Chris 18/05/2018, 5:35 am

This thing has lied on an official document on enlistment, knowing fullwell it was gay/tranny!and it’s mate Angus covered it up and waited for this new age faggotry acceptance to be accepted!!

  • Paul Boyns 20/06/2018, 6:45 pm

Thank God I’m not serving now, I don’t think I could pass on all this rubbish the ADF is pushing now to my men.

  • George Lovett 20/06/2018, 8:34 pm

In the event that Australia is subject to external threat or attack, where will our military leaders be who are capable of making the hard nose decisions. Will it be a matter of asking a soldier if he / she wants to fight in the name of PC . The very thought of having leadership in the military who do not possess the hard nose attitude and a combat force equal to the task is of great concern. Keep politics out of the Military.Go and paint your toe nails and manicure your hair in private life but not in the military.

  • NotMyRealName 21/06/2018, 11:26 am

    “employing violence with humility”
How in the name of God do you do that??
In a bayonet charge, do you yell, “your humble and obedient servant, sir, cop this?”

  • Lordy 25/06/2018, 11:16 am

I am absolutely amazed that this crap is going on and we the “majority” let these minorities do as they please, pushing the boundaries of sensibilities and morality to the enth degree. I am abhorred that all the “people in power” seem to be members of these PC minorities making left wing PC decisions so as not to offend anyone. I am the same as Paul above Thank god I am out of the Circus

  • Ray CARLIN 28/06/2018, 3:20 pm

I don’t know who should be charged, either Maj Gen HURLEY, or those who went to the Gay and Mardi Gras March in uniform, at Military Law, both would seemingly be guilty of Conduct to the Prejudice of Good Order and Military Discipline, or of Conduct liable to bring Disgrace upon the Army, after all, as it has been said, ones sexual preference is a Personal Issue. Anyway the real warriors will still call a spade a
    *^%$#@ shovel despite PC.

    • Garry William MUIR 16/09/2018, 5:18 pm

Ray, I do believe that the three senior NCO,s that lead the Military Contingent were ordered to do it but the upper echelon cluster fuckers. And the CDF sadly lacks that in a big way CDF that is. He was all symbols that show any relation to war in the units removed, well he had better start with his former hat badge Winged Dagger??? Nearly every hat badge has some resemblance to war/fighting, even ordinary Corps with their cannons and far too big balls, and this political bum sniffer is on a woofer of a wage to make decisions like that, look out politics here he comes. And imagine what he has done to the Military, FFS what can he do with the Country, the mind boggles.
